Staten Island, NY: The Ramapo College men's track and field team competed at the Great Dane Classic this afternoon at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The meet was hosted by the University of Albany with teams across all three NCAA Divisions.
Cheickna Traore ran the 60-meter dash and placed second overall with a personal best time of 6.91 seconds. His time is currently tied for 21st best across NCAA Division III and second all-time at Ramapo. It also qualifies him for the AARTFC and ECAC Championship meets later this season. Traore also took home a second place finish in the 200-meter dash when he crossed the finish line in 21.83 seconds, his time is currently tied for 7th across NCAA Division III, and qualifies him for the AARTFC and ECAC Championship meets.
Chris Andersen finished 7th in the mile run with a personal best time of 4:12.16, which is second all-time at Ramapo. His time is currently 12th in NCAA Division III and qualifies him for the AARTFC and ECAC Championship meets later this season. In the 800-meter run, Andersen placed 10th overall when he crossed the finish line with an indoor personal best time of 1:55.55. This time also qualifies him for the AARTFC Championship meet while it is currently 26th in NCAA Division III this season.
Kenyon Fenderson placed 11th in the 60-meter dash in 7.28 seconds and posted a time of 23.44 in the 200-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash,
Terrell Lockett clocked in at 53.29 seconds while
Max Dubac finished 9th overall in the 500-meter race with a time of 1:07.45. In the 3k race,
Steven Fiumefreddo posted a personal best time of 8:37.55, and he is now 3rd on the all-time list at Ramapo. His time also qualifies him for the AARTFC meet.
Jason Mercado placed 13th overall with a time of 15:47.53 in the 5k race, which is a personal best time. In the 60-meter hurdles,
Justin Martone placed 7th overall when he crossed the finish line in 9.30 seconds.
In the field events,
Jason Potterton grabbed a 12th place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.14-meters while in the long jump he posted a mark of 6.07-meters. In the shot put,
Thomas Dardis posted a mark of 10.50-meters while
Sebastian Pross posted a mark of 12.87-meters in the weight throw.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, Feb. 4th when they travel to the Metropolitan Conference Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for a 10am start.
