Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team has been picked to finish second in the
2021 NJAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced today by the league office.
The Roadrunners won the 2020-2021 NJAC Tournament Title, the first in program history and finished the season 5-1-1 overall. Head Coach
DJ Pinton enters his 18th season at the helm and was named NJAC Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Ramapo finished ranked #7 in the 2020-2021 NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll.
Seven Roadrunners return to the 2021 roster who earned NJAC All-Conference honors. Two-time NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year,
Joshua Schaffer, will return to lead Ramapo in the net. He posted 31 saves, two shutouts and over 558 minutes in goal last year.
Mark Buckel was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Year last season and helped lead the team on defense. Ramapo let up just six goals while recording two shutouts.
Thiago Stallhbaum and
Damian Zurawski earned NJAC First Team All-Conference. Stallhbaum started all six games for the Roadrunners and recorded two goals while Zurawski led the team with three assists.
Jonathan Junqueira,
Massimo Gallorini and
Ederson La Torre each earned NJAC Second Team All-Conference. Junqueira played in and started four of Ramapo's six games and recorded one goal. Gallorini, who started all six games, netted the team's game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Montclair State in the NJAC Championship game. La Torre started five games last season and led the team with three goals for six points.
The Roadrunners open the 2021 season on Wednesday, September 1st when they travel to Old Westbury for a non-conference matchup at 4pm.
