RAMAPO COLLEGE ANNOUNCES THE RETIREMENT OF HAROLD CROCKER

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College Athletic Department and Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, Christopher Romano, would like to congratulate Athletic Director Harold Crocker on his retirement.

"I want to thank Harold for his leadership and service over the last six years at Ramapo College," Romano said. "Harold instilled a connectedness between Athletics and the rest of campus that facilitated many of the achievements of both our student-athletes and the department."

Crocker, the 11th athletic director in Ramapo's history, will serve his final day on September 1st after six years of service to the college. Crocker has dedicated over 40 years of service to higher education as he began his career in 1980 at Iona College, before serving as the Director of Athletics and the Wellness Center at The College of New Rochelle from 1998 to 2015.

Highlights from Crocker's tenure at Ramapo College include a department wide grade point average consistently above a 3.0 and retention and graduation rates that exceed those of the traditional student population. Crocker led the charge in securing NCAA Grants including a two-year Ethnic Minority and Woman's Internship Grant.  He was also instrumental in securing a three-year NCAA Choices Grant to assist in funding alcohol education and prevention, while instituting a new Substance Abuse Education and Testing Policy with random drug testing. Crocker established a Faculty Scholar Student-Athlete Recognition program, while also collaborating with New Jersey Special Olympics to bring an annual Special Olympics event to the Mahwah campus.

During his time at Ramapo, nine Roadrunner teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament with multiple individuals in cross country and indoor and outdoor track making appearances on the national stage. Ramapo hosted the First and Second round of the 2016-2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and the 2017-2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds. Most recently, the men's soccer team won the NJAC Championship (2020) for the first time in school history, and the College hosted the 2020-2021 NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

"Harold's work and leadership, positions us well to continue a culture of competitiveness, connectedness and a commitment to the Division III student-athlete philosophy as we move into the new academic and athletic year," Romano added.  "I wish Harold all the best in his retirement and thank him for his service to Ramapo; he'll forever be a Roadrunner."
