Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team dropped a tough game to the Lions of the College of New Jersey today to wrap up the 2021 season at 13-10 overall. With the 7-3 victory, the Lions advance to the semi-final round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament as they travel to #2 seeded William Paterson this upcoming weekend. They improve to 11-15 overall.
The Lions got on the board first in the 4
th inning when Chris Cody scored off a double from Ryan Goodall and the Roadrunners quickly responded in the bottom of the inning as they got runs from
Brian Baranok and
Kyle Buser to go up, 2-1.
Justin Garthaffner drove in Baranok with a single and Buser came home on a sac fly from
Matt Carovillano.
In the 7
th, Ramapo would tack on an additional run as Baranok scored after he was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning to get on base. The three runs were not enough for Ramapo to hold on as TCNJ crossed six runs in the top of the 9
th to take the game, 7-3. David Stec closed out the bottom of the 9
th 1-2-3 for TCNJ.
Zach Gelo gets the win for TCNJ as he pitched two innings facing ten batters. He struck out seven and walked one. He let up one run and one hit. Goodall hit 2-5 with one run and three RBI and Avery Epstein went 2-5 with two RBI.
Justin Grippo takes the loss for Ramapo as he pitched one inning and let up two hits and four runs. Buser hit 2-4 with one run and Garthaffner went 1-3 with two RBI. Baranok scored two runs of his own.
