Mahwah, NJ: Seven members of the Ramapo College men's soccer team have been named to the NJAC All-Conference Team announced today by the league office. For the second season in a row the Roadrunners were awarded three of the top major all-conference awards.
Head coach
DJ Pinton was named NJAC Coach of the Year after leading the Roadrunners to the first NJAC Tournament Title in program history. Ramapo wrapped up the season with a 5-1-1 overall record. This was Pinton's second straight post-season honor, an award that is voted on by league coaches.
Joshua Schaffer was named NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-Conference for the second year in a row. He recorded a shutout in the NJAC Championship game with three saves. This season he posted 31 saves, two shutouts and over 558 minutes in goal.
Mark Buckel was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference, the first of his career. He led the team on defense this season, a team that let up only six goals all season and recorded two shutouts, both coming in the NJAC Tournament. He started all six games for the Roadrunners and recorded one assist this season.
Thiago Stallhbaum and
Damian Zurawski earned NJAC First Team All-Conference. This is Stallhbaum's second post-season conference honor. He started all six games for the Roadrunners and recorded two goals including one game-winner. Zurawski earns his first post-season honor after leading the team with three assists. He started all six games while scoring two game-winning goals for a team high seven points this season.
Jonathan Junqueira,
Massimo Gallorini and
Ederson La Torre each earned NJAC Second Team All-Conference, the first post-season honors of their career. Junqueira played in and started four of Ramapo's six games this season. He recorded one goal for two points. Gallorini netted the team's game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Montclair State in the NJAC Championship game. He started all six games and recorded two assists for four points this season. La Torre played in six games while starting five game this season. He led the team with three goals for six points including one game-winning goal.
