Montclair, NJ: The #3 Ramapo College men's soccer team defeated #1 Montclair State University tonight 1-0 to become the 2020-2021 NJAC Men's Soccer Champions. The Roadrunners improve to 5-1-1 overall and hand the Red Hawks (5-1) their first loss of the season.
In the seventh minute of action, the Roadrunners were awarded a penalty kick as MSU committed a foul in the box.
Massimo Gallorini converted for the 1-0 lead, it was his second goal of the season and eventual game-winner.
Both teams battled throughout the game with MSU playing a man down for almost the whole second half. A Red Hawk was sent off due to a red card. The Red Hawk offense had opportunities to tie the game but the Ramapo defense and goalkeeper Josh Schaffer kept them off the board. Ramapo held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal in the game while MSU recorded six corner kicks to Ramapo's one.
Schaffer collected three saves in the victory for the Roadrunners while Shane Keenan posted three saves of his own for MSU.
This is Ramapo's first NJAC Tournament Title in program history. The Roadrunners were the NJAC Runner-Up in 2018 while they won the NJAC Regular Season Title in 2019.
