New York, NY: The Ramapo College men's indoor track and field team opened the season tonight at the TCNJ Winter Open. The Roadrunners competed against NCAA Division I and III teams.
In the 300m dash,
Cheickna Traore broke his own NCAA DIII record and school record when he crossed the finish line in 34.10 seconds and a 2nd place finish.
Max Dubac set a new school record in the 600m dash with a time of 1:23.14. Dubac placed 8th overall in a field of 25 runners.
Steven Fiumefreddo set a new school record in the 5k when he clocked in at 14:56.18 with a 1st place finish.
Jason Mercado placed 3rd overall in the same event with a time of 15:57.30 while
Nicholas DeMarco clocked in at 16:07.24 for a fifth place finish.
Justin Martone finished 5th overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.12 seconds, which is 8th all-time at Ramapo.
Matt Cortez posted a time of 4:39.55 in the mile run while
Jason Potterton grabbed a 2nd place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.46-meters, which is 4th all-time at Ramapo. Potterton also placed 7th in the long jump with a mark of 6.51-meters, which is 7th all-time at Ramapo. In the high jump,
Connor Belica finished 7th overall when he cleared 1.78-meters, which is 10th all-time at Ramapo. To wrap up the meet, the 4x400-meter relay team placed 4th overall with a time of 3:26.48.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, January 22nd when they travel back to The Armory in NYC for the TCNJ Indoor Invitational hosted by the College of New Jersey. The meet is set to begin at 6pm.
