Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College field hockey team have been crowned the 2021 ECAC Tournament Champions after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham. The Roadrunners, who were the #1 overall seed in the tournament, wrap up the season with a program best record of 15-7 overall.
 
Ramapo came out strong in the first quarter scoring the first goal of the game in the first three minutes of action. Victoria Docherty scored her team leading 25th goal of the season, unassisted at the 2:35 mark to put the Roadrunners up 1-0. FDU-Florham (12-9 overall), who were ranked #2 in the tournament, came back with a goal late in the first quarter as Haleigh Flukey would score her team leading 16th goal of the year to tie the game, 1-1.
 
The score would remain tied through the second and third quarters before Ramapo put in the game-winner in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Katie Yarussi scored the game-winning goal off a pass from Maggie Farrell and Docherty to take a 2-1 lead with less than two minutes remaining on the clock. The Ramapo defense would hold the Devils scoreless to secure the first ever postseason championship in program history!
 
Michelle Kukan posted four saves in the game for Ramapo while Tori Waschek made a diving defensive save to help keep FDU-Florham from taking the lead late in the game. Ramapo held a 10-9 advantage in shots in the game while the Devils posted 10 penalty corners to Ramapo's six. Megan March collected four saves in the net for FDU-Florham.
 
With three goals, one assist and seven points during the Roadrunners' run to the ECAC Championship, Victoria Docherty was named ECAC Tournament MVP.
