Chris Andersen won the 2021 NCAA Metro Men's Cross Country Regional Championship this afternoon at DREAM Park and the Ramapo College cross country team finished fifth overall, their best finish in program history. The meet was hosted by Rowan University.
Andersen became the first Roadrunner in program history to win a NCAA Regional Individual Championship. He crossed the finish line with a time of 25:03.2, while also earning NCAA Metro All-Region honors.
Steven Fiumefreddo placed third overall, the second highest finish for a Roadrunner in program history. He posted a time of 25:12.76 and earned NCAA Metro All-Region honors.
Eduardo Cermeno clocked in at 26:49 while
Jason Mercado posted a time of 27:05.5.
Nicholas DeMarco and
Ian McCauley recorded times of 27:18 and 27:53.3 respectively.
Mohamed Nidaazzi wrapped up the Ramapo finishers with a time of 29:26.2.
Andersen and Fiumefreddo will now compete at the 2021 NCAA Men's Cross Country Championships next Saturday, Nov. 20th. The race will be held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, KY.
