Union, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team defeated Baruch College 139-70 to open the 2021-2022 season. The meet was hosted by Kean University.
The team won the opening relay and eight individual events that were scored before moving to exhibition scoring.
Spencer Hughes (5:20.12),
Jeffrey Horn (5:21.82) and
Michael Sooy (5:33.69) finished 1-2-3 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Devin Alejado (55.59),
Brendan McDevitt (57.17) and Sooy also finished 1-2-3 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Emile Eeckhout grabbed a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.68) while
Aidan Glass (1:12.01) and
Josh Yee (1:12.23) placed second and third respectively. Eeckhout also won the 50-yard breaststroke while
Tyler Moore (31.02) and
Samuel De Leon (31.50) placed second and third.
Benjamin Gomez and
Giovanni Alvarez went 1-2 in the 50-yard butterfly with times of 25.28 and 26.45.
Matt Liedtka posted a winning time of 22.46 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle while he also won the 100-yard freestyle in 51.23 seconds.
Josh Templeton was right behind him in the event in 51.35 seconds. McDevitt (26.17), De Leon (27.65) and
Caleb Baron (30.01) took the first three finishes in the 50-yard backstroke.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 30th when they travel to the College of New Jersey for a NJAC meet starting at 1pm.
