Staten Island, NY: The Ramapo College men's indoor track & field team competed at the Winter Classic yesterday afternoon hosted by the University of Albany.
Cheickna Traore continued to make his mark this season as he set a new school record in the 200-meter dash. Cheickna clocked in at 21.80 seconds to finish fourth overall against a field of NCAA Division I & III athletes while he breaks current Ramapo sprint coach
Ackeme Brown's record. Brown set the record during the 2012 season (21.93 seconds). Cheickna's time is also #2 in NCAA Division III this season.
Charlie DaSilva placed second in his section and 16th overall with a time of 4:22.25 in the mile. His time is a personal best while
Peter Petropoulos clocked in at 4:30.90.
Andrew Sanchez posted a time of 50.50 seconds in the 400-meter dash as he placed 20th overall, 9th all-time at Ramapo while
Nazzim Patilla clocked in at 51.73 seconds. In the 60-meter dash
Kenyon Fenderson finished 15th overall with a personal best and AARTFC qualifying time of 7.13 seconds. Fenderson's time is also 8th on Ramapo's top ten list.
Andrew Sanchez posted a personal best time
Chris Andersen finished second in his section and 19th overall when he crossed the finish line in the 800-meter run in 1:56.12. His time qualifies him for the AARTFC Championships later this season and is 7th all-time at Ramapo.
Jason Rodriguez placed second in his section and 29th overall in 1:57.64, 10th all-time at Ramapo while
Jose De La Cruz clocked in at 1:58.94.
Lucas Logue posted a mark of 13.39-meters in the shot put, placing 28th overall and 10th all-time at Ramapo. The 4x400-meter relay team posted a time of 3:27.86 as they finished fourth in their section and 16th overall. The team was made up of Andersen, De La Cruz, Da Silva and Rodriguez.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, February 14th-15th when they travel to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
