December 14, 2020
Dear Roadrunners,
The pandemic continues to change the way we look at collegiate athletics and it has been challenging to lay out permanent plans as to what Spring 2021 will look like. As we move into the New Year and prepare for the Spring Semester, we continue to make plans that prioritize the health and safety of our student athletes. When conditions permit, the College is committed to getting you safely back to your respective sports.
Roadrunner Athletics Update:
College administrators across the NJAC continue to engage in complex discussions with the Conference commissioner regarding the status of the winter seasons and we hope to have a final decision for you in the near future. Once the decision regarding the winter season is reached by the NJAC, the focus will turn to the upcoming spring seasons and then, a decision for our fall athletes.
Ramapo is devoted to moving forward with the resocialization to sport when conditions permit a safe return. "Resocialization to sport" simply means a gradual and safe transition into what we now know as a new norm for collegiate athletics. Roadrunners will have the opportunity to participate in voluntary training sessions, followed by team practice sessions in functional pods. Once conditions permit, your Head Coach will communicate the specific resocialization phases that will be required of you and your teammates.
Housing:
We have learned from your coaches that some of you are waiting to decide if you want to live on campus until a decision about your season is made by the Conference. Unfortunately, we do not control the Conference's decision-making timeline. Therefore, if you are interested in living on campus, we encourage you to complete the housing application no later than 12pm on Thursday, December 17, 2020 by clicking on this link: Spring 2021 Housing Application for Athletes. If you have already completed the Spring 2021 housing application, you do not need to submit a new application. It is important to note that while you are applying to live on campus now, the deadline for 100% withdrawal from housing is February 1. If you move into housing before Feb 1 and then decide to withdraw, both your housing and meal plan will be credited minus the daily rate utilized and meals consumed. We will also work with Residence Life to address the needs of those student athletes where a decision on their season may come at a later date.
Please stay safe and practice healthy habits to ensure we can all return to campus as soon as possible! As communications come from the Conference and the College, we will share them with you.
Wishing you all a safe and healthy holiday season as we move into the New Year!
Sincerely,
Harold Crocker
Director of Athletics
