MEN'S SWIMMING EARNS BIG WIN OVER WPU 147-104

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's swim team defeated William Paterson University 147-104 in NJAC action. The Roadrunners wrap up the dual meet season at 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Pioneers now stand at 8-6 overall and 0-3 in the NJAC with one dual meet left in the season.
 
The 200-yard medley relay team went 1-2 to open the meet for the Roadrunners. The 'A' team, made up of Chris LeeEmile EeckhoutBenjamin Kern and Patrick Herrera, finished in first place overall with a time of 1:41.20. The 'B' team, made up of Spencer HughesNoah CallahanJames Liao and Brandon Arias, placed second in 1:49.34.

Hughes (1:51.69) and Sam Cossaboon (1:52.00) went 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle while they grabbed the top three finishes in the 100-yard backstroke. Lee placed first (57.79) while Sean Flannery placed second (58.62) and Michael Sooy placed third overall in 1:03.35. The Roadrunners once again took home the first three finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke as Flannery won the event in 1:03.30. Hughes placed second (1:09.01) and Nicholas Bates placed third in 1:10.56. In the 200-yard butterfly, David Herrera won the event in 2:10.60 while Noah Callahan placed second (2:13.85) and Brandon Arias finished third (2:15.45).
 
Josh Templeton won the 50-yard freestyle when he clocked in at 22.84 just ahead of Kern who posted a time of 22.90 for second place while Tomer Bachar placed third in 23.01. Matt Liedtka grabbed a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.08 while Lee won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.25. Flannery placed second in 2:12.60 and Sooy placed third in 2:17.41. Cossaboon (2:15.07), Bachar (2:25.69) and Kern (2:27.83) went 1-2-3 respectively in the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
The Roadrunners return to action at the Metropolitan Conference Championships on February 20th at 9am. The three-day meet is hosted by Rutgers University with finals concluding on the evening of Sunday, February 23rd.
