Pomona, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team swept a NJAC doubleheader today on the road over Stockton University, 7-1 & 10-2. The Roadrunners move to 22-10 overall and 13-3 in the NJAC while the Ospreys drop to 20-18 overall and 6-10 in the conference.

Game One
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second inning as they score one run in the first and second.
Jackie Howarth led off the game reaching on an error, advancing to second on the play before
Carli Egan drove her home with an RBI single to center field, 1-0. Howarth earned the RBI in the second inning as she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the 2-0 lead.

Stockton scored their lone run in the bottom half of the inning when Ashley Lobell connected on a solo home run, cutting the lead in half, 1-2. Ramapo got the run back in the third inning when
Sarah Browning singled home
Kristen Ruggiero, 3-1. Ruggiero reached on an error earlier in the inning.

Olivia Wang led off the sixth inning with a double to right-center field before Howarth belted her first home run of the season over the left-center field wall to extend the lead, 5-1. Following a pitching change from the Ospreys, the Roadrunners had runners on second and third before Browning drove them home with a hard-hit single to left field, 7-1.

Erin Fitzsimmons (13-7) fired a one-hitter with two strikeouts and two walks in the complete game win. The Roadrunners recorded 13 hits in the game as
Kendra Decker led the team with a 3-4 day at the plate with one run scored. Howarth and Browning each posted three RBI while Egan, Browning,
Olivia Mahon and Wang each tallied two hits each.

Game Two
The Roadrunners scored two runs in the second inning when Mahon drove home two RBI as she laced a single into right-center field.
Harper Patsko led off the inning with a double before
Kristen Ruggiero walked and each moved up one base on a sac bunt from Browning.

Ramapo added five runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. Howarth and
Krista Verrino worked back-to-back walks before Egan drove home Howarth with a single. Patsko then plated Verrino with a sac fly and Ruggiero beat out an infield single to put runners on the corners. With two outs, Decker belted a double to right-center field to plate both runners before Mahon drove in Decker with a single.

Stockton would score their two runs in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Casey Schieda poked a single to center field to drive home Carli Shaw and Meg Murzello, 2-7.

Verrino drove home Howarth with a double down the left field line in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead. Howarth led off the inning with a single before stealing second base. Ramapo added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Decker sent a double into deep center field before later scoring on an infield error. Verrino picked up an RBI with an infield single that allowed Mahon to score for the 10-2 score.

Jessica Becchetti (8-2) earned the win in the circle for Ramapo as she scattered seven hits over 4.2 innings of work before Fitzsimmons came in for relief with two outs in the fifth inning. Fitzsimmons worked the final 2.1 innings, scattering just three hits.

Decker once again led the team at the plate in game two, finishing 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while Mahon tallied a team high three RBI finishing 2-3 with one run scored. Verrino and Egan each tallied two hits in the game while Verrino picked up two RBI.

Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, April 27th when they host Kean University in the final NJAC regular season games of the season. The Roadrunners will honor their senior class in a pre-game ceremony before the first pitch at 1pm.
