Randor, PA: The Cabrini University baseball team defeated Ramapo College today in non-conference action, 8-4. The Cavaliers improve to 15-4 overall while the Roadrunners even their record at 6-6 overall.
Cabrini got on the board in the bottom of the first inning by scoring an unearned run with two outs for a 1-0 lead. Ramapo then took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning.
Justin Grippo led off the inning with a double before
Kyle Lisa singled with one out to put runners on first and third. A failed pickoff attempt by the Cavaliers allowed Grippo to score to tie the game, 1-1, while Lisa moved to second.
Vincenzo Sita then put the Roadrunners in the lead with a single through the left side of the infield which allowed Lisa to come around and score.
In the bottom of the third inning, Cabrini's Brandon Loner connected on a grand slam to take a 5-2 lead. Ramapo tacked on one run in both the fifth and sixth inning to close the gap. In the fifth,
Liam Duffy drove home Lisa with a two-out single, 3-5. Lisa laced a double in to the left-center field gap earlier in the inning.
Bryan Franko led off the top of the sixth for Ramapo with a single to right field before pinch-hitter
Vincent Timpanelli was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with no outs. A sac bunt from Grippo moved them up one base before a fielder's choice allowed Franko to score, 4-5.

Kyle Haag, who entered the game in the bottom of the fourth, kept the Cavaliers off the board until the bottom of the seventh when they added one unearned run for a 6-4 lead.
Jeff Millet started on the mound in the bottom of the eighth for the Roadrunners. Cabrini scored two unearned runs with two outs to extend the lead, 8-4. The Cavalier pitching staff held the Roadrunners in the top of the ninth to just one hit as they closed out the non-conference game with the victory.
Dan Russo (0-1) started on the mound for Ramapo. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered four hits and five runs (four earned). Haag pitched four innings of relief, striking out seven and walking just one while scattering three hits. Millet struck out two, walked none and let up two hits and two runs (none earned) in one inning of work. Ramapo recorded 11 hits in the game as
Matt Carovillano, Sita and Lisa each recorded two hits of their own.
Ryan Lutick (2-0) earned the win in relief for Cabrini. He struck out four, walked none and scattered three hits in two innings of work.
Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, March 28th with their 2019 home opener as they host Farmingdale State College at 4pm.
