ROADRUNNERS SPILT IN ROAD TRI-MATCH

Albany, NY:  The Ramapo College men's volleyball team traveled to the Sage Colleges today to compete in a tri match-up with Sage and SUNY Polytechnic where they went 1-1 on the day to stand at .500 at 11-11 overall on the year. 
 
In their first match of the day they swept SUNY Poly, 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-20) behind eight kills each from Jason Van Der Wilt and Stephen Codisodo, while Codispodo added five digs and three block assists. Junior Eric Van Thuyne added six kills with five digs, two block assists and was perfect with no receiving errors on his ten attempts. Rookie setter Josh Titus added 26 assists with two aces and seven digs for Ramapo.

SUNY-Poly's junior Connor Schultz added six kills with four block assists and two digs. He led the team with his 8.0 points, while rookie Matthew Russo picked up four kills with one ace and five block assists. Szuba added eight digs with three kills.  Junior setter Adam Beitz added 18 setting assists with four digs for the Wildcats.

Ramapo won the first set, 26-24 in their second match against the host, Sage, but the Gators took the next three sets to defeat the Roadrunners, 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 22-25, 21-25).

Ramapo had a match-best 23 kills turned in by Van Thuyne as he had a .513 attack percentage. He had just one receiving error in 24 attempts and had one ace for the Roadrunners. Codispodo added ten kills with four digs, while Titus had 42 setting assists with four digs and an ace.
 
Mike Basile led the Gators with 15 kills after adding a .258 attack percentage with eight digs and no errors in 26 receiving attempts. Sage had a trio of players rack up ten kills as they combined for a .281 attack percentage in the match. Shane Wenz, Jarod Martel, and Scott Sanders all had ten kills each, while Wenz had nine digs. Sanders added a .318 attack percentage with six digs and a solo block.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Monday, March 25th when they travel to  #7 SUNY New Paltz for a 7pm match-up on the road.
