RAMAPO IMPROVES TO 3-0 ON THE YEAR

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team hosted day one of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament tonight as they faced off with Bryn Athyn posting a 73-36 victory in the nightcap.  The first game of the evening featured Farmingdale State verse Johnson & Wales where the Rams came out on top, 73-64 over the Wildcats.    
 
Game 1: Farmingdale improved to 2-1 overall with the win while the Wildcats took their first loss of the season falling to 1-1.  Imani Butts led the Rams with 21 points hitting 5-13 from the field and a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe.  Alexis Hunter netted 20 points and Nia Miller chipped in 12 as the team shot a combined 23-59 (39%).  Miller dished out five assists and Anna Zaborowska collected ten rebounds.  
 
In the first two quarters, Farmingdale State would hold a slight 34-31 advantage as Butts led the way with 15 points.  Miller added six for the Rams as the team shot 11-36 from the field. Hunter led with seven rebounds and Miller dished out three assists.  For Johnson & Wales, Maddy Moro led in the first two quarters as she sunk nine points.  Tera-nay Lee collected seven as the team hit 11-31.  Lee and Moro each grabbed six boards and Tiondra Hands and Lee each collected three assists.  In the final two quarters of the game, the Rams would take the lead with 7:46 to play and they never looked back as they earned the nine-point victory.  Hunter collected 16 additional points and Butts collected six as the team went 12-23 from the field.  Lee put away an additional seven points for the Wildcats and Moro added eight.  The team hit a combined 15-42 down the stretch.
 
Moro and Lee finished the game each with a double-double.  Moro collected 17 points and ten boards while Lee added 11 points and 11 rebounds to the game.  Hands finished the game with 13 points and Lee dished out a team high six assists.  Hands grabbed five steals on the night.
 
Game 2: Ramapo improved to 3-0 overall on the year as they defeated Bryn Athyn 73-36 in the final game of the night. Bryn Athyn opens the 2019-2020 season with a loss to stand at 0-1.  The Roadrunners were led by Jessica Repasy and Alie Wickersheim who each posted 12 points in the win.  Cherie Smedile collected 11 points as the team finished shooting 32-65 (49%).  Caleigh Mcanuff dished out six assists and Smedile added five as Repasy and Bianca Fede each pulled down eight rebounds.  Repasy grabbed three steals and the Roadrunners forced 22 turnovers on the night. 
 
The Roadrunners came out strong and started the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back as they held a 39-14 lead after the first two quarters.  Repasy led the team with ten points shooting 3-5 while Wickersheim collected eight.  The team hit a combined 16-30.  Repasy, Samantha Rinaldi and Wickersheim each pulled down three rebounds while Smedile dished out three assists.  Ramapo forced 15 turnovers in the first two quarters.  For Bryn Athyn, Treasure Baskerville led the team with five points and Jayda Campbell added four while the team collected just four baskets on 24 attempts.  Clayshonia Cogmon collected six rebounds and Campbell dished out one assist.
 
In the final two quarters the Roadrunners continued to spread the gap and never looked back to take the non-conference win.  Repasy added two points and Wickersheim added four additional while Abbegail Whildin netted six of her own.  The team went 16-35 from the field.  Bryn Athyn collected nine more goals in the final minutes on 29 attempts.  The team was led by Campbell in the remainder of the game as she sunk four more points.  Ramapo's biggest lead was 71-30 as they lead the entire game.
 
The Roadrunners will take on the Rams in the championship game tomorrow at 2pm while Johnson & Wales and Bryn Athyn will meet up for a consolation match-up at noon at the Bradley Center Arena in Mahwah.
