Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team earned a 152-77 win over Baruch College (0-1 overall) to open the 2019-2020 season.
The Roadrunners (1-0 overall) had a strong meet as the 200-yard medley relay team won the first event of the day in 1:41.10. The team was made up of
Tomer Bachar,
Sam Cossaboon,
Josh Templeton and
Matt Liedtka.
Benjamin Kern and
Nick Bates went 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 1:59.59 and 2:00.49 respectively. In the 100-yard backstroke, Bachar and
Spencer Hughes finished first (57.25) and second (58.21) while in the 100-yard breaststroke three Roadrunners took the top three spots.
Sean Flannery placed first (1:01.89),
Noah Callahan placed second (1:05.29) and
Thomas Cava placed third in 1:06.50.
David Herrera clocked in at 25.57 in the 50-yard fly for first place while Liedtka placed first in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.07.
Chris Lee also took home a second-place finish in the same event in 23.22 while
Patrick Herrera was third in 23.70. Templeton and
Jeffrey Horn went 1-2 in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 51.66 and 53.53 respectively. Bachar won the 50-yard backstroke (26.44) and Lee won the 50-yard breaststroke in 29.33 while Flannery was second (33.90) and Cava was third in (34.00). In the 500-yard freestyle, Hughes placed first with a time of 5:01.74 while
Emile Eeckhout and Horn finished in second (5:11.02) and third place (5:29.13) respectively.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 26th when they host Drew University in a non-conference meet at 2pm.
