Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team snapped Rowan University's six game win streak today, 77-65, at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 15-5 overall, 9-4 in the NJAC as they extended their win streak to five. The Profs fall to 15-5 overall, 9-4 in the conference.
Kashaun Barnes led the Roadrunners with 20 points and six rebounds,
Bryant Quill netted 13 points,
Rob McWilliams had 11 points and six rebounds, and
Rob Lewis led the team with 13 rebounds. Ramapo hit 25-57 (43.9%) from the field and 19-26 (73.1%) from the line. The Profs shot 25-68 (36.8%) from the field and 4-6 (66.7%) from the line. Nick DePersia led Rowan with 17 points, Ramon Wright netted 10 points and seven rebounds, Rob DePersia had nine points and dished out six assists, and Diante Bah collected seven rebounds.
The two teams traded baskets until N. DePersia sank a three-point shot for the Profs to put them on top, 12-9 with 13:48 on the clock. Rowan would continue to hold the lead over the next four and a half minutes of play before a jump shot from Barnes would put the Roadrunners up by one, 22-21. Rowan would answer back with a dunk from Wright. Quill would then spark an 8-0 run for the Roadrunners off a layup as
Connor Romano capped off the run with a three-pointer, 30-23. The Roadrunners and Profs traded baskets over the next 3:20 of play. With 1:57 left in the half Barnes would give the Roadrunners the biggest lead of the half off a jump shot 40-31. A layup from Brain Thatcher would bring the Profs within seven, 33-40, to close out the half.
In the first half, the Roadrunners hit 15-30 (50%) from the field behind 13 points from Barnes and six rebounds from Lewis. Rowan shot 13-33 (39.4%) from the field with N. DePersia, Wright, DaRon Curry, and R. DePersia all nettings six points.
Rowan came out of the locker room to take a one-point lead off an 8-0 run, 41-40. McWilliams would make a layup to put the Roadrunners back on top followed by a three-pointer from Barnes to take a four-point lead, 45-41. Back to back baskets from N. DePersia and Wright would tie the game at 45 with less than 14 minutes left. McWilliams would answer back sinking a three-point shot to put Ramapo back on top, 48-45. A three-pointer from Quill with 12:14 on the clock would extend the Roadrunner lead to nine, 54-45. Curry would bring the Profs within four points with 7:19 to go, 52-56. With just over five minutes on the clock
Andre Morgan would spark a 9-0 run for the Roadrunners capped off by a set of free-throws from Barnes extending the lead to 14, 68-54. The Roadrunners would go on to remain undefeated at home with a final score of 77-65.
In the second half, Ramapo hit 10-27 (37%) from the field with McWilliams netting 11 points and Lewis collecting seven rebounds. Rowan shot 12-35 (34.3%) from the field behind 11 points from N. DePersia.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 30 when they travel to Kean University for a NJAC game at 8pm.
