Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team opened the 2018 season at home with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 26-24) victory over Shenandoah University behind 15 kills from
Morgan Ridgway.
In a close played match-up, the Roadrunners would come out on top as Ridgway collected her 15 kills on 36 attempts with just four errors. She hit .306 on the day while the team combined for 49 kills on 144 attempts. They collected 24 errors hitting .174 in the win. Felicia Jiminez hit .400 with ten kills and
Aniella Bednarz collected seven kills of her own.
Hannah Frascella and
Nathalie Ortiz each finished the day with six kills.
Kate Shirkey dished out 22 assists and
Sara Correa collected 13 while
Kristina Semple led the defense with 23 digs. Ridgway would add 17 to the win and Frascella and Shirkey picked up 11 and ten respectively.
For SU, Caylin Harris led with ten kills and Emily Cheatwood added nine while the team hit a combined 37-138 with 15 errors hitting .159. Emily Veach dished out 16 assists and Nicole Shannon was strong on defense leading with 29 digs. Harris added 11 in the loss.
The Roadrunners return to action on September 7
th when they travel to the Union Tournament to play Williams College in Schenectady, NY at 6pm.
