RAMAPO SWEEPS RUTGERS NEWARK AS HEITLER FIRES A NO HITTER

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team swept the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark today as Cory Heitler fired a no-hitter in game one to lead Ramapo to a 2-0 victory, and Jon Brignoni collected a win from the mound in game two as Ramapo earned a 3-2 victory.  The Roadrunners improve to 23-11 overall and 8-5 in NJAC Conference play.
 
Game 1: Heitler fired the no-hitter and shut out the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark, 2-0 today in the opening game of the conference double-header match-up.  Heitler struck out 11 as he improved to 7-1 on the year. This was the third no-hitter in school history and first since the 1985 season.
 
The game remained scoreless until the Roadrunners got on the board in the 6th inning as Austin Unglaub crossed the plate on a wild pitch and Joe Maugeri stole home to give Ramapo a 2-0 lead.   
 
Unglaub led on offense as he hit 2-4 with one run scored and Liam Duffy collected a hit in the game as well.  Luis Rojas pitched the entire game for Rutgers Newark as he falls to 1-4 on the year.  He struck out seven and walked three in the loss.
 
Game 2:  The Roadrunners earned the double-header sweep behind a win from the mound from Brignoni.  Brignoni struck out five in 6.2 innings pitched.  Anthony Kuzmenko hit 2-4 with one run scored and Vincenzo Sita scored a run of his own.  Ryan MacNaughton tacked one on hitting 1-4 on the day.  Matt Chemis drove in one run and Maugeri hit a perfect 2-2 at bat.
 
The Roadrunners got on the board first in the bottom of the 4th inning as MacNaughton doubled to center field to drive home Sita and MacNaughton later came home on a single from Chemis.
 
In the 5th, Adam Tricarico singled to bring home Ryan Zucker and JC Ball but it wasn't enough as Ramapo walked away with the 3-2 victory. 
 
Kevin Foulds closed out the final inning striking out one.
 
Casey Hanley gets the loss in six innings as he struck out one.  Zucker scored a run and Tricarico hit a perfect 3-3 with two RBIs. 
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, April 25th when they host Stevens at 3:30pm at Jeff Maund Field on the Mahwah campus.
