RAMAPO WINS 20TH GAME OF THE SEASON IN 5-0 SHUTOUT OVER PANTHERS

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team earned their 20th win of the season with a 5-0 blanking of SUNY Old Westbury today at Jeff Maund Field. The Roadrunners improve to 20-11 overall while the Panthers drop to 12-13-1 on the season.

The two teams saw themselves in a pitcher's dual until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Roadrunners finally got on the board with one run. Bobby Shannon led off the inning with a walk before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Shannon then stole second base and later scored on a wild pitch for the 1-0 lead. In the sixth inning, the Roadrunners extended their lead with three runs. Matt Chemis led off with a walk and advanced all the way to third when the throw from a pickoff attempt sailed wide of first base and into foul ball territory down the right field line. Austin Unglaub drove him home with a single to center field before Anthony Kuzmenko put down a bunt single. A throwing error allowed Unglaub to moved up to third before Kuzmenko then stole second. Connor Walsh drove them both home with a hard hit single up the middle for the 4-0 lead. Unglaub would make it 5-0 for the Roadrunners in the eighth inning. Unglaub singled to lead off the inning before moving to second on a sac bunt from Kuzmenko and later scored on a Panther throwing error.

Ramapo starting pitcher Nick Recarte (3-1) earned the win on the mound as he helped the Roadrunners strand ten Panthers on base. He walked three and scattered six hits before Greg Westhelle worked the final inning for Ramapo. Westhelle did not give up a run while he surrendered just one hit.

Unglaub finished the game 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while Walsh also was 2-4 on the day while he drove home two RBI.
