RAMAPO DEFEATS MARITIME 18-11 AT HOME IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated the Privateers of Maritime College today, 18-11 in a non-conference match-up at the Athletic Center. With the win Ramapo jumps ahead to .500 at 3-3 overall. Maritime falls to 2-4.

Four Roadrunners would score three goals each to lead the Roadrunners to the seven-point victory as Monica Bubello made 17 saves in the net. Shannon Eagan, Beth McGraw, Gabi Davidson and Ava Rinaldi all collected the leading goals. Rinaldi picked up a team leading five ground balls and Davidson collected five draw controls.

Maritime would get on the board first with a goal from Krista Deleva off an assist from Sara Wright just over one minute into the game before Ramapo's Brianna Himpele knotted the score at one off a pass from Davidson. Deleva scored a free position goal to go up again on Ramapo but Davidson struck with 24:34 on the clock to tie the game at two goals each. Rinaldi would give Ramapo their first lead of the day on an unassisted goal and McGraw gave the Roadrunners a three-goal lead, 5-2 with 15:16 to play forcing Martime to call a timeout and talk it over.

After the timeout, McGraw would strike again before Caitlin Ernest got on the board with 11:43 to play. With 7:02 to go, Ramapo's Colleen Manley got a point to put the Roadrunners up, 8-2. Maritime would score their first goal since 25:49 with a goal from Deleva off an assist from Catherin Pfundstein. Wright dished a ball to Deleva to close the gap, 4-8 and Shannon Eagan took a pass from Manley to go ahead 9-4.

The score would hold until the halftime buzzer where Maritime led in shots, 20-18. Monica Bubello collected nine saves and Esmeralda Hernandez blocked five of his own.

At the start of the second half, Alyssa Tachon got Ramapo on the board off an assist from Ernest and Wright answered back two-plus minutes later to come within five, 5-10. Pfundstein would tack on back-to-back goals for Maritime to close the gap to 7-10 and Rinaldi tacked on another of her own to put Ramapo up, 11-7. With 17:45 to go, Pfundstein netted her third goal of the game and Davidson quickly responded with another goal for the Roadrunners. Tachon hit the back of the net with 15:09 to go to take a 13-8 lead before Maritime would call their second time out of the game.

Warner scored for Ramapo off an assist from Eagan and Eagan got one of her own with 11:35 on the clock to take a 15-8 lead. Davidson, Rinaldi and McGraw rounded out the scoring for Ramapo and Deleva would post two and Pfundstein one for the Privateers but it wasn't enough as the Roadrunners took home the non-conference win.

Ramapo would collect 21 shots in the second half and Maritime recorded 16 as Hernandez finished the day with ten total saves.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, March 31st when they travel to Old Westbury for a noon start.
