Williamstown, MA: The Ramapo College men's basketball team dominated Moravian College, 86-61, in the first round of the NCAA DIII National Tournament at Williams College. The Roadrunners advance to the second round of the tournament with the win, and will play host Williams College on Saturday night at 7pm. The Ephs enter the game on a five-game win streak and are ranked #8 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25.
 
The Greyhounds Oneil Holder kicked off the game with a layup. But Christopher Moseley hit a transition layup himself to get Ramapo on the board. After trading buckets, the Roadrunners found their groove and went on a nice 9-0 run for four minutes. Ramapo continued to pull away in the first half, eventually racking the score up to 17 by the buzzer. Patrick Peterson led the Roadrunners with eight points, while Rob Lewis had seven. Josh Ford and Rob McWilliams had six apiece as well.
 
Ramapo didn't stop in the second half either. Bonacum kicked it off with a layup, and sparked a run that killed the Greyhounds' offense. The mantra was to get to the free throw line, and Bonacum did so with 12 – all coming in the second half.
 
"Coach always gets on me for gathering and be strong around the basket," Bonacum said after the game. "And he's gotten me to get to the free throw line and stop being passive and get around the bucket to get those easy points. "Getting to the free throw line was the point of emphasis today and as a whole we did it very well. "
 
It was 41 free throws (23 in the second half) that buried Moravian. Ramapo continued to break their press and push the ball up the floor for easy baskets, or free throw chances. Defense was also a big focus, with the Roadrunners consistently forcing the Greyhounds to give up the rock. James Long and Moseley each had two steals as they were relentless on the defensive end.
 
"I thought the difference in the game was that we were able to slow them down and hold them to a season-low 61 points," head coach Chuck McBreen said. "Thought our defense did a real great job of covering the three-point, they're a great shooting team…At the end of the day, we limited their transition points and limited their ability to get out in numbers and drive and kick to open shooters. We did a great job in transition defense."
 
Bringing the lead up to a high of 25, the Roadrunners coasted in the second half to win a decisive game. Peterson finished with his first career double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Bonacum finished with 15 points.
 
Moseley and McWilliams had 10 points, and Lewis finished with 12 off the bench. The Roadrunners out-rebounded the Greyhounds 54-33, while hitting 51.9 percent of their shots as well.
 
Now, the Roadrunners will take on Williams on Saturday night to try and earn a trip to the Sweet 16. For Peterson, his effort tonight was to keep the season alive.
 
 "I was just playing hard. I mean, I came here to win," he said. "I'm not trying to lose especially with these guys senior years. I don't want it to be over yet."
