Aburndale, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team split a pair of games against St. Norbert College today. Ramapo took game one 5-1 while Green Knights came back in game two with a 5-4 win. The Roadrunners now stand at 4-1 overall while the Green Knights (2-2).
Game one:
St. Norbert tacked on one run in the top of the second inning before Ramapo broke open the game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Vincent Sita recorded a RBI double that scored
Anthony Rocchietti who walked earlier in the inning. Pinch runner
Evan Ochlan then later scored on an infield error before
Matt Chemis drove home
Liam Duffy for a 2-1 lead.
Joe Maugeri then laced a double to plate Chemis and
Austin Unglaub for a 4-1 score. Unglaub then raced home on a pass ball to make it 5-1 in favor of the Roadrunners.
Ramapo held the Green Knights in the bottom half of the seventh to earn the win.
Jerry D'Andrea (2-0) struck out ten and, walked two and scattered six hits in the complete game victory.
Game two:
Ramapo scored one run in the top of the second inning when
Nick Camilleri drove home
Connor Walsh with a sac fly for a 1-0 lead. St. Norbert scored two runs in the bottom of the second before the Roadrunners took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning. Pinch hitter
Matt Meola ripped a double to put runners on second and third before Chemis smacked a triple to left-center field plating pinch runner
Nick Cuba and Meola. Chemis then scored on a wild pitch for a 3-1 score.
In the bottom of the seventh the Green Knights came back to score three runs for a 4-3 walk-off win. A walk, hit-by-pitch and back-to-back walks forced home one run before another walk forced home the second run of the game. The game-winning run came home on a wild pitch for the 4-3 score and a win for St. Norbert.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow night when they go up against Eastern Connecticut State University (1-0) at 7:30pm.
