Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament today when the 62-team bracket was announced. This will be the Roadrunner's second appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history and first since 1997.
The Roadrunners will travel to host Connecticut College and take on Springfield College (14-4-1) on Saturday, November 10th at 1:30pm. The Camels (12-2-2) will take on Thomas College (ME) (14-4-1) at 11:00am. The two advancing teams will meet in the NCAA Second Round on Sunday, November 11th at 1:00pm. Ticket prices for each game will be $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Ramapo (15-3-2) earned one of the 19 Pool C At-Large births after reaching the NJAC Tournament Championship and finishing second in the NCAA South Atlantic Regional Poll. The Roadrunners 15 wins is the most under 15th year head coach
DJ Pinton, the school record for wins in a season is 16. Junior
Joseph Fala leads the team and NCAA Division III in goals (25) and game-winning goals (10) while he is second in total points (56). Fala is currently second against NCAA DI (27) and NCAA DII (26) schools in the single season goals category. Senior
Trevor Albrecht leads the team with ten assists while he adds three goals for 16 points. Sophomore
Joshua Schaffer has led the team to seven shutouts with a team high 82 saves this season. Fala was named NJAC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference while Albrecht and junior back
Justin Charkowski joined him as members of the NJAC First Team All-Conference team. Senior back
Malik Lopes was named NJAC Second Team All-Conference while senior midfielder
Jorge Castro and Schaffer were each named NJAC Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Springfield enters the Tournament for the fifth time in program history and third straight (2018, 2017, 2016, 2011, 1999) after winning the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship. The Pride are on a three-game win streak heading into the NCAA Tournament. Brad Deckel and Christian Schneider lead the team with six goals while Schneider adds four assists for a team leading 16 points. Stewart Frank has helped lead the Pride to eight shutouts this season with a team high 55 saves.
Connecticut College enters the Tournament for the third time (2018, 2017, 1995). The Camels, who are hosting for the first time in program history, earn an at-large bid after falling in the NESCAC Quarterfinals on October 28th. Liam Noonan leads the team with five goals while Uzii Dieng posts four goals and five assists. Christian Murphy leads the team with 14 points, including a team high eight assists and three goals. AJ Marcucci has helped the team to ten shutouts this season with a team high 59 saves.
Thomas College enters the tournament for the fifth time overall and first since the 2015 season, winning the North Atlantic Conference Championship. Adam LaBrie leads the Terriers with 14 points including six goals and two assists while Josh Morrissey also tallies six goals this season for 12 points. Jonathan Dutka has helped lead the team to five shutouts this season with a team high 62 saves.
