RAMAPO TOPS CENTENARY 58-32

Hackettstown, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team defeated Centenary University 58-32 tonight on the road in non-conference action. The Roadrunners improve to 2-0 on the year while the Cyclones drop to 0-2 overall. For the second straight game Ramapo held their opponent to under 35 points. The Roadrunners held the Cyclones to under ten points in each quarter while they led 38-16 heading into halftime.
 
Three Roadrunners scored in double figures tonight as Samantha Rinaldi and Tia Solomon posted 12 points while Jessica Repasy added 11. Stacey Porzl led the team with six assists on the night while she added four steals and four points. The team shot 41% (17-31) from the field, 18% (3-16) from the three-point line and 55% (5-9) from the free throw line in the game. The Roadrunners forced 32 Cyclone turnovers in the game that turned into 35 points for Ramapo.
 
Centenary got on the board first in the game when they opened up with a three-pointer from Taylor Bossert. The Roadrunners then went on a 14-2 run started by Solomon with a layup and capped off with back-to-back three-pointers from Repasy and Jenna Harsh to take a 16-5 lead. Amber Sagan put the Roadrunners up 12 heading into the second quarter, 19-7, with a made jumper as she capitalized on the and-one play with a made free throw.  
 
In the second quarter the Roadrunners stretched their lead to 20 for the first time in the game when Solomon made a layup off a pass from Prozl as they led 29-9 with 6:19 left in the quarter. They took their biggest lead of the game 38-14 when Harsh made a layup with 1:16 left on the lock before the Cyclones hit the last basket of the quarter as Ramapo led 38-16 at the half. Ramapo continued to lead during the third and fourth quarters. They pushed their lead to 27 as Repasy made a jumper 48-21 before Centenary made a pair of free throws with less than two minutes on the clock 48-23. In the fourth quarter the Roadrunners held a 21-point lead or more before they wrapped up the quarter on a 7-4 run for the 58-32 road victory.

Ramapo returns to action on Friday, November 16th when they host the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament. The Roadrunners will take on Medgar Evers College at 7:30pm while the first game of the weekend will see Southern Vermont College take on St. Joseph's Brooklyn at 5:30pm. The two winners will play at 2pm on Saturday in the Championship game while the Consolation game is at 12pm.
