New Paltz, NY: The Ramapo College men's swim team earned a non-conference win over New Paltz today, 146-116 to improve to 2-3 overall.
The meet opened with Ramapo's 200-yard medley relay team placing 2
nd overall in a time of 1:37.69. The team was made up of Drew Ramos, Samuel Cossaboon,
Jose Alferez, and
Jordan Leonardo.
Matt Stenger,
Sean Flannery,
Julian Giglio, and Kern Benjamin placed 3
rd in the same event with a combined time of 1:42.71.
Nicholas Markwell placed 2
nd in the 1,000-yard freestyle as he touched the poolside in 10:45.92 while
Chaz Cella placed 2
nd in 1:51.11 and
Aspen-Jade Tucker earned 4
th in the same event with a time of 1:54.69.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Tomer Bachar and Alferez placed back-to-back with times of 55.93 and 55.99 respectively. Bachar placed 1
st and Alferez placed 2
nd.
Sean Flannery placed 1
st overall in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.39 while Cossaboon placed 3
rd overall in the same event as he touched the poolside in 1:03.71.
Aviad Mana,
James Liao, and Joseph Buckley earned 2
nd, 3
rd and 4
th place respectively in the 200-yard butterfly. Mana clocked in at 2:06.37, Liao in 2:19.55, and Buckley in 2:20.83.
Jordan Leonardo won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.63 and Ramos placed 3
rd in the same event. Ramos clocked in at 22.81 seconds. Ramos also placed 2
nd in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.58 seconds.
Alferez won the 200-yard backstroke as he touched the poolside in 2:02.14 and Bachar placed 2
nd in 2:02.42. The 200-yard breaststroke went to Flannery as he clocked in at 2:16.66. Cossaboon placed 2
nd in the same event with a time of 2:21.19. Cella won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.30 and Bachar placed 2
nd in the 100-yard butterfly in 55.48 seconds. Alferez placed 2
nd in the 200-yard IM and Flannery finished in 3
rd while
Noah Callahan placed 4
th overall. Alferez clocked in with a time of 2:06.67, Flannery in 2:08.87 and Callahan in 2:10.11.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team wrapped up the meet with a 1
st place ribbon as Ramos, Leonardo, Benjamin, and Stenger combined efforts in a combined time of 1:30.41.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, January 20
th when they host NJAC rival Montclair State at 2pm.
