Glassboro, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team dropped a tough NJAC match-up to the Profs of Rowan University, 81-67 tonight on the road. Ramapo falls to 4-11 overall and 1-7 in NJAC play while the Profs improve to 8-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
Summer Crilley led the Profs to the NJAC win as she collected 27 points hitting 9-19 from the floor. Dominique Peters netted 20 points and April Szymczyk added 14 as the team shot 25-69 (36%) on the night. Szymczyk pulled down eight rebounds and Peters grabbed six steals. The Profs caused 32 Ramapo turnovers and scored 30 bench points in the win.
With a three-point goal from Dominique Peters, the Profs took a 24-11 lead over Ramapo with 1:17 to play in the first quarter. The Roadrunners responded as they connected a seven-point run sparked by
Jenna Harsh and capped by
Alie Wickersheim to come within six, 20-26, with 7:53 to go in the second quarter. They continued to close the gap with a 9-0 run which was capped at 4:57 with a layup from Harsh to come within one, 29-30. Harsh would close out the first half of play with a long shot to trail the Profs 37-39 at the buzzer.
The score flip flopped on multiple occasions at the start of the third quarter as Ramapo connected a 9-0 run to take a 43-39 lead with a jumper from
Jina Crawford at 8:16, and then a 7-0 run from the Profs, capped with a basket from Alex Raring put Rowan back in the lead at 46-43 with 7:02 to go. The Profs would take control as they connected a 15-0 run, capped by Raring to take a 64-51 lead with just under three to play in the quarter. In the final quarter it was the Profs who came out on top as they finished the game leading Ramapo, 81-67.
Harsh led Ramapo with 14 points and
Bridgette Buckalew and
Jessica Repasy each netted 11 points as the team went 25-66 (38%) in the loss. Harsh recorded a double-double adding 11 rebounds to her night while
Tia Solomon pulled down 11 rebounds of her own.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, January 13th when they host New Jersey City University for a 1pm tip-off at the Bradley Center.
