Mahwah, NJ: The Saint Thomas Aquinas College field hockey team came back in the second half to defeat the Ramapo College Roadrunners 4-2 in non-conference action. The Spartans, a NCAA Division II athletic program, earned their first win of the season and now stand at 1-3 overall. The Roadrunners drop to 1-2 on the year.

STAC was awarded a penalty corner as time expired in the first half before Jacqueline Dowling took a pass from Briannah Thorne to tie the game at one heading into halftime. The Spartans held a 9-7 edge in shots in the first half while both teams recorded seven penalty corners.
In the second half, Carley Davin set up Taylor Hickey following a penalty corner to take a 2-1 leading the 42nd minute (42:58) before Meghan McCarren put in the eventual game-winning goal to go up 3-1 in the 48th minute (47:25) off a pass from Dowling. Junior
Melissa Choka tallied her first goal of the season when the Roadrunners were awarded a penalty corner in the 55th minute of the game. Choka would take a pass from rookie
Victoria Ewanis to come within one 2-3. The Spartans added an insurance goal late in the half (68:10) when Thorne recorded her second assist of the day as Alexandra Vippolis hit the back of the net.
The Roadrunners did not go away quietly in the game as they out shot the Spartans 16-8 in the second half and tallied eight corners to STAC's two. Ramapo held a slight advantage in shots in the game 23-17. Senior goalie
Emily Wisneski recorded seven saves while Suzanne Clarke posted a game high 14 for STAC.
Ramapo returns to action at home on Saturday afternoon when they host New England College at 1pm on the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Roadrunners and Pilgrims will go up against each other for the first time in program history.
