SOFTBALL SWEEPS STOCKTON 4-2 & 6-0

Galloway, NJ:  The Ramapo College softball team swept a NJAC conference double header on the road at Stockton University. The Roadrunners won 4-2 in game one and 6-0 in game two to earn their sixth straight victory. Ramapo improves to 23-7 overall and 13-1 in the NJAC while the Ospreys fall to 17-16-1 overall, 6-7-1 in the conference.
 
Game 1: Katrina Buczkowski (8-1) scattered six hits in the complete game win over the Ospreys. She struck out two, walked two and surrendered two runs. Ramapo got on the board in the top of the first inning when Ally Spellman singled down the left field line and came around to score when Harper Patsko smacked a triple to right-center field for a 1-0 lead. Christina Brizek then laced a double to the right-center field gap allowing Patsko to score to go up 2-0.
 
In the fourth inning the Roadrunners added one run when Spellman drove home Grace Brennan with an infield single. Brennan singled to center field to lead off the inning. The Ospreys got on the board in the bottom half of the fourth inning to come within one 3-2. Katzmar hit a pinch-hit double to center field plating both runs for Stockton.
 
The Roadrunners tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Kendra Decker laced a line drive single past first base allowing Spellman to score for a 4-2 lead. Ramapo held Stockton in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win.
 
Game 2:  Erin Fitzsimmons (9-3) surrendered one hit to the first batter she faced and retired the final 21 Ospreys in order as she earned the win on the mound for the Roadrunners. She struck out one and walked none.
 
Ramapo scored two runs in both the second and third innings to take a 4-0 lead. In the second, Brennan plated two runs with a double as Shannon Cox and Kendra Decker scored. In the third inning Ramapo scored their two runs with two outs. Spellman and Patsko singled before Nicole Mahoney drove home Spellman with a single to center field. Cox then hit a double to left-center field allowing Patsko to score for the 4-0 lead.
 
Ramapo added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Spellman led off with a double before Patsko hit a double of her own allowing Spellman to score. Mahoney hit an infield single before Cox poked a single to left field as Patsko scored to extend the lead 6-0.
 
Ramapo collected 13 hits in the game while Mahoney led the team finishing 4-4 with one RBI. Patsko was 3-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while Cox was 2-3 with one run scored and two RBI. Spellman finished the second game 2-4 with two runs scored and Brennan was 2-4 with two RBI.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, April 25th when they host Montclair State University in a NJAC double header starting at 3:30pm.
