Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team posted an 11-10 victory today over the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Athletic Center. Ramapo improves to 6-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference. Rutgers Camden falls to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Alyssa Tachon scored four goals to lead the Roadrunners to their one-goal 11-10 victory over Rutgers Camden as the Roadrunners get their first win in conference play on senior day.
Ramapo got on the board first with a goal from Ava Rinaldi with 24:32 left on the clock before Tachon scored one of her own 20 seconds later to put Ramapo ahead 2-0. Rutgers Camden would get on the board with a goal from Jessica Mayer at 23:47 before Tachon struck again to put Ramapo on top, 3-1. Jennie Klanchar and Nicole Martin hit back-to-back goals to tie the game at 3-3 with 11:34 to play in the half. On a dish from Marissa Cooney, Tachon would put Ramapo back on top 4-3 and Kaitlyn Ennis quickly responded to again tie the game with 7:09 to go. Martin gave the Scarlet Raptors a 5-4 lead with just 1:33 on the clock off a dish from Klanchar and the score would hold until the halftime buzzer where Rutgers Camden led in shots 13-9.
Monica Bubello made seven saves while Caitlyn Snyder collected three.
Ennis would score her second of the game at the start of the half to put Rutgers Camden ahead 6-4 before Katie Duca scored to come within one, 5-6. Mayer stuck again at 17:04 and Colleen Manley scored for Ramapo at 16:06 to again come within one, 6-7. Tachon would tie the game at 7-7 off a dish from Molly Warner before Ramapo regained the lead with a goal from Manley off an assist from Nicole Jaskot. Rinaldi put Ramapo ahead 9-7 before adding another to lead 10-7 with 10:17 to play. Jaskot would get one of her own before Martin cut the lead to three with under four minutes to go. Klanchar put the Scarlet Raptors within two, 9-11 off an assist from Mayer and Martin scored with under a minute to go in the game to close the gap to just one goal. The Raptors made one final push down the field but were shut down by the Roadrunners giving Ramapo their first win in conference action.
Ramapo held a 14-12 advantage in shots in the final half as Bubello made five more saves. Snyder collected four in the final 30 minutes of play.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, April 29th in their final match up of the season at home against Rowan at 1pm.
