Newburgh, NY: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated Mount Saint Mary College 14-6 tonight on the road in a non-conference game. The Roadrunners improve to 2-0 overall while the Knights fall to 0-2 on the year.
Nicole Jaskot,
Alyssa Tachon and Kaite Duca led the Roadrunners with three goals each while
Colleen Manley and
Ava Rinaldi each collected two goals.
Molly Warner added one goal for Ramapo.
Tachon put the Roadrunners on the board in the first half with back-to-back goals, both unassisted. Jaskot put a goal into the back of the nest off a pass from Duca before Duca got one of her own off a pass form Tachon to put Ramapo up 4-0. Duca scored the eventual game winning goal, unassisted late in the first half for a 5-2 lead before Rinaldi scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Tachon to take a 6-2 lead.
In the second half, Ramapo scored the first four goals to take a 10-2 lead before Mount Saint Mary added their third goal of the game 10-3. Jaskot, Manley and Tachon all scored one goal for a ten-goal lead 13-3. Katie Gattoni tallied the final three goals for Mount Saint Mary while Jaskot scored the final goal for Ramapo as they came away with the 14-6 road victory.
Monica Bubello posted five saves for the Roadrunners while Amanda Picillo led the way for the Knights with seven saves in 41:35 minutes of play. Carolyn Smith tallied one save in 18:25 minutes of action.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, March 11th when they travel to NJAC rival #5 College of New Jersey for a game at 1pm.
