Aburndale, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team fell to Wheaton College (MA) 7-0 this afternoon at the RussMatt Invitational. The Lyons improve to 2-3 while the Roadrunners now stand at 0-3 overall.
Tommy Larason (1-0) struck out four, walked none and scattered six hits in the win for Wheaton working 6.2 innings. Ty Calabro finished 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while Chris Ruocco finished 1-4 with two RBI.
The Lyons one run in the top of the second inning when Calabro smacked a double to left field allowing Jared Sharkey to come around and score for a 1-0 lead. They added two runs in the fourth extending their lead to 3-0 before scoring three runs on two hits in the sixth for a 6-0 lead. Wheaton tacked one more run in the top of the ninth with an unearned run for a 7-0 score.
Joe Maugeri led the Roadrunners at the plate finishing 2-4 while Vincent Sita went 2-3. CJ Groweny (0-1) struck out four, walked one and scattered six hits. He surrendered six runs, only two earned in six innings of work.
Brian Chinni struck out two and did not give up a hit over two innings while
Jeff Millet struck out one, walked one, and surrendered two hits in one inning of work.
The Roadrunners are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm when they take on Illinois Wesleyan University at Lake Myrtle Park in Aburndale, FL.
