Mahwah, NJ: The #11 Ramapo College men's basketball team posted a 87-64 NJAC win over Rutgers-Camden University tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners now stand at 21-2 overall 14-2 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raptors now stand at 5-18 overall and 2-14 in the conference.
Christopher Moseley led the Roadrunners in the game with 16 points, three steals and two assists while
Sultan Aminu posted a team high nine rebounds, 12 points and two steals.
Patrick Peterson came off the bench and contributed with ten points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
James Long led the team with six assists while he added six points.
Josh Ford contributed with eight points and three assists.
Ramapo shot 50% from the field (33-65), 40% (6-15) from the three-point line and 75% (15-20) from the free throw line. Ramapo scored 33 points off Rutgers-Camden turnovers along with 50 points in the paint. The bench contributed 36 points in the game while the Roadrunners out rebounded the Scarlet Raptors 35-29. The score was tied once in the game while the Roadrunners held a 26-point lead with 5:28 left in the second half, their biggest lead of the game.
Four players for Rutgers-Camden scored in double figures in the game as Isaac Destin led the team with 18 points. Charlie Riccardi and Elijah Robles each contributed with 14 points while both Destin and Riccardi collected a team high seven rebounds. Rutgers-Camden scored 44% (23-52) from the field, 14% (2-14) from the three-point line and 72% (16-22) from the free throw line. The team scored 28 points in the paint and 21 points off of Ramapo turnovers.
Moseley put the Roadrunners on the board in the first half with a dunk to start the game before Destin tied the game 2-2 with a jumper. Ramapo then went on a 17-4 run that gave them a 15 point lead on a tip-in from
Nick Stanek with 15:07 in the half. Destin scored the next five points for the Scarlet Raptors before Ramapo extended their lead to 33-13 with 8:27 on the clock. The Roadrunners held at least a 13-point lead down the stretch while they went on a 5-0 run to cap off the first half up 45-26 heading into halftime.
Ramapo did not let their lead go below 14 points in the second half as they used a 7-0 run capped off by a pair of free throws from Moseley to take a 59-38 lead with 13:29 left on the clock. The Scarlet Raptors cut the lead to 16 before Ramapo extended it back to 26 on a made jumper from Peterson with 5:28 left in the game, 79-54. Riccardi started a 5-0 run for Rutgers-Camden before each team scored eight points down the stretch. Aminu tallied the final points of the game on a tip-in with five seconds remaining for the 87-64 win.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, February 11th when they host NJAC rival New Jersey City University at 3pm in a key NJAC conference game. The Roadrunners will honor their senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
