Glassboro, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team wrapped up the 2016-2017 season tonight on the road posting a tough, 63-90 loss to the Profs of Rowan University. With the loss Ramapo finishes the season at 10-15 overall and 5-13 in conference play. The Profs improve to 17-8 overall and 11-7 in the NJAC.
The Profs opened the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back as they led the entire 40 minutes of play behind a 22-point performance from Anyssa Sanchez. The Profs led 39-26 at the half as they shot a combined 14-32 (33%) in the first 20 minutes. In the second half, Rowan connected 19 field goals on 38 attempts shooting 50% from the field. The Profs forced 26 Ramapo turnovers and out rebounded the Roadrunners by a slim 43-42.
Four Profs finished with double-digit points. Sanchez's 22 points was the team leading performance as Olivia Rulon netted 18, Alex Raring 16 and Alexis Kriley ten. Sanchez completed the double-double with ten rebounds as Raring pulled down six in the win. Sanchez also led the team in steals with six as she dished out three assists. Valerie Garofalo and Summer Crilley each contributed four assists on the night.
For Ramapo,
Jenna Harsh led the team with 15 points and
Tia Solomon added 14 while
Bintou Berete wrapped up her collegiate career with ten points of her own. Solomon recorded a double-double with ten boards as
Bridgette Buckalew dished out five assists.
Stephanie Johnson grabbed two steals in the loss. Ramapo forced 11 Rowan turnovers on the night.
