Jamaica, NY: The #10 Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated York College 97-63 on the road in a non-conference game. The Roadrunners improve to 17-1 overall while the Cardinals now stand at 2-16 on the year.
Thomas Bonacum and
James Long each tallied 16 points to lead the Roadrunner attack. Bonacum finished 6-12 from the field and 3-3 from the free-throw line while Long was 6-7 from the field including 4-5 from beyond the three-point line.
Christopher Moseley posted nine points and a team high six rebounds along with one block while
Nick Stanek and
Saint-Simeon Beaubrun each contributed with eight points. Ramapo shot 57% (34-59) from the floor in the game while they shot 63% (7-11) from the three-point line and 75% (22-29) from the free throw line. The Roadrunners scored 44 of their 97 points in the paint while they posted 26 points off York turnovers.
Ramapo scored the first basket of the game on a three-pointer from Bonacum off an assist from Long before Edwin Sainvil tied the game with a three-pointer for York.
Josh Ford put Ramapo in the lead for good with a jumper for a 5-3 lead while started a 12-0 run. The Roadrunners led by 14 with 10:06 on the clock on a made basket from Moseley before they stretched their lead to 26 with 5:32 left in the first half on a jumper from Bonacum 44-28. Aminu put the team up 27, the biggest lead of the half, with a layup of his own with less than two minutes to play before York scored the final two baskets of the half. Ramapo led 53-31 at halftime.
The Roadrunners did not look back in the second half as they extended their lead to 30 on a three-pointer from Long 65-35 (13:48), which started a 12-2 run capped off by a made basket from
Jordan Zagadou 74-37 (10:20). York posted a mini 6-0 run before Ramapo extended their lead to 41, the biggest lead of the game on a jumper from
Noah Basket 88-47 (4:27). In the final minutes of the game York outscored Ramapo 14-9 as the Roadrunners came away with a 34-point victory 97-63.
#10 Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, January 25th when they host NJAC rival Montclair State University for a game at the Bradley Center at 7:30pm.
