Larysa Iwaskiw was named to the NYU Labor Day Invitational All-Tournament team as she led the Ramapo College women's volleyball team throughout the two day tournament which consisted of four matches. On day two, the Roadrunners went 1-1 wrapping up the weekend and opening the 2016 season at 2-2 overall.
In their first match of the day, the Roadrunners defeated Keene State, 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 21-25, 25-9) behind 23 kills from Iwaskiw who hit .220 in the win. The team went 50-144 with 27 errors hitting .160.
Emily Guzman recorded eight kills and
Judy Errichetti contributed six kills of her own.
Kate Shirkey and
Rachel Selmore split the setting duties recording 19 and 16 assists respectively. On defense,
Kristen Behrens led the team on defense with 17 digs and Shirkey and Iwaskiw each picked up 13 digs.
In a tough 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 24-26) loss to NYU in their final match of the tournament, the Roadrunners were again led by Iwaskiw who put away 16 kills while leading the defense with 14 digs. Errichetti picked up seven kills as the team combined hitting .097 with 33 kills on 124 attempts with 21 errors. Shirkey contributed 16 assists and Selmore added ten assists while
Karina Almeda picked up 12 digs of her own in the loss.
Ramapo returns to action on September 9th when they travel to the Union Tournament to face off with Oneonta and Skidmore at 2pm and 4pm respectively on the opening day of the two day invitational.
