New York, NY: The #18 New York University women's soccer team came back to defeat Ramapo College tonight 3-2 in non-conference action. The Roadrunners fall to 1-4-1 overall while the NYU improve to 5-1-1.
Ramapo got on the board in the 4th minute (3:26) of the game as rookie Lilliann Vizcaino scored her first goal of the season off a pass from
Michaela Knoblock. Four minutes later NYU tied the game at one all when Teressa Fazio scored her fourth goal of the game in the 18th minute (17:27). Maddie Pena contributed with the assist. The Roadrunners would go up 2-1 with their second goal of the game in the 43rd minute (42:31).
Gabrielle Gentilucci posted her team leading fourth goal of the year to take a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
NYU would once again score the equalizer just 39 seconds into the second half (45:39) when Lexi Clarke scored off a pass from Alex Benedict for a 2-2 score. Olivia Braender-Carr hit the back of the net off a corner kick from Clarke to take a 3-2 lead in the 62nd minute (61:55). The Roadrunners could not find the back of the net to exend the game in the final 28 minutes of action. NYU led in shots 17-7 with a slight edge in shots on goal 9-6. NYU also recorded ten corner kicks to Ramapo's two.
The Ramapo defense was able to catch NYU offside eight times during the game while rookie
Elizabeth Harvell recorded six saves.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday when they travel to NJAC rival Stockton University for a 1pm game.
