Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College Athletic Department received the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant back in June and has worked diligently searching for a candidate to fill the position of Assistant to the Director of Athletics – Sports Performance Coordinator. Athletics Director
Harold Crocker, is announcing today the hiring of Hendro T. Yauw to fill the position as part of this exceptional grant opportunity.
Yauw comes to Ramapo after serving as the Assistant Sport Performance Coach at Concordia College where he worked with 11 varsity programs during the 2015-2016 school year. He implemented a strength and conditioning program for all student-athletes, which included a recovery program, warm-up and cool-down routines, along with mobility, stability and flexibility programs. Prior to his time at Concordia, Yauw worked at UCLA, Stanford and California State University Northridge serving as a Sport Performance Coach at each institution. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University Northridge in 2014.
To encourage access, recruitment, selection and the long-term success of ethnic minorities and women, the Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant is one that fits with the College's goals. "This is a great step in our overall strategic plan to increase diversity in our staff on campus and one of our goals to better integrate Athletics with the overall college vision and plan," said Christopher Romano, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.
This two-year grant program provides funding for an entry-level administrative position at NCAA Division III schools and conference offices. It provides $23,660 to support the salary of the hired intern and $3,000 in professional development funding. Recipients are required to provide a $3,700 minimum in-kind gift for each year of the grant. The grant is being used for a full-time 10-month Sports Performance Coordinator in which Yauw will serve.
Yauw, along with Crocker and Bridgette Quimpo, the positions' mentor, traveled to an educational convention held by the NCAA last weekend specifically designed for the colleges and universities who received the grant, and the administrators and new employees hired. The convention covered topics such as the specifics surrounding the grant, the NCAA and the different divisions, facts and figures about the NCAA, and Division III legislation, philosophy and initiatives.

We welcome Yauw and look forward to him joining the Ramapo Athletics Staff!
