#3/7 RAMAPO BASEBALL SPLITS WITH RIVAL ROWAN

Mahwah, NJ:  The #3/7 Ramapo College baseball team split the final NJAC double header of the season against rival Rowan University today at Jeff Maund Field. The Roadrunners (29-9-1, 11-7 NJAC) won game one 6-4 while the Profs (23-16, 11-7 NJAC) earned an 8-0 shutout win in game two.
 
Ramapo earned the #3 seed in the upcoming NJAC Tournament and will host #4 Rowan on Tuesday at 3:30pm at Jeff Maund Field.
 
Game 1: Ramapo took a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Matt Chemis walked, stole second and moved to third on a throwing error before he scored on an infield error.  Rowan came back to score four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Matt Jolly led off with a double before Jason Clapper walked and Evan Hughes singled to load the bases with no outs. Steven Todd then laced a single to center field plating two runs before Bret Phillips drove home two more runs with a single into right field for a 4-1 lead.
 
In the bottom half of the inning, the Roadrunners came back with five runs of their own to take a 6-4 lead. Brandon Martinez walked and Austin Unglaub poked a single up the middle before Scott Paulus drove home Martinez with a single to left field. Bobby Shannon then laced a single down the right field line allowing Unglaub to score. Ryan Rinsky walked to load the bases before DeAngelis lifted a sac fly to center field plating Paulus to tie the game 4-4.  Shannon and Rinsky later came home on a throwing error from the Profs to go ahead 6-4.
 
CJ Growney (3-0) fired a complete game for the Roadrunners and only let up one hit after Ramapo took the lead after the fourth inning. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered only seven hits. Five players recorded a multi-hit game for Ramapo as DeAngelis, Chemis, Unglaub, Paulus and Shannon all tallied two hits.
 
Game 2: Rowan came back in game two with an 8-0 shutout. Dylan Johannink (2-1) struck out five, walked one and surrendered only two hits over seven innings to earn the win.  Rowan tallied 11 hits in the game while Ramapo only recorded three.
 
The Profs scored all the runs they would need in the top of the second inning when they scored three runs, two that were unearned.  In the fifth they added two runs to extend their lead 5-0 before they added one run in the sixth and two runs in the ninth 8-0. The Profs held Ramapo the rest of the way earned the NJAC road win.
 
Eli Garcia (2-1) took the loss for the Roadrunners. He struck out two, walked three while he surrendered five hits over 4.1 innings.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday in the opening round of the NJAC Baseball Tournament. The game will begin at 3:30pm and will live stream on ramapoathletics.com
