#13 MSU FIELD HOCKEY POSTS 6-1 WIN OVER RAMAPO

Mahwah, NJ:  The #13 Montclair State University field hockey team posted a 6-1 NJAC win over Ramapo College today at the Athletic Center. The Red Hawks clinch a #2 seed in the upcoming NJAC Field Hockey Tournament and improve to 15-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Roadrunners wrap up the season with a 2-12 overall record, 0-6 in the NJAC.
 
The Red Hawks will take on #3 Kean (16-2) on November 2nd in the opening round of the Tournament. MSU got on the board with a late goal in the first half (33:51) when Alexis Ambrosino hit the back of the net off a pass from Kailey Dalgauer. MSU out shot the Roadrunners 24-1 in the first half.
 
In the second half it was Ambrosino who scored the first of five MSU second half goals, and the game-winner in the 37th minute of the game. Kelly Watson assisted on the goal. Watson picked up a goal of her own in the 41st (40:27) minute while Amber Haslett recorded the assist to make it 3-0 MSU. Danielle Butrico scored an unassisted goal (44:27) to take a 4-0 lead before Ramapo got on the board in the 55th minute. Ronni Wellema scored off a Ramapo penalty corner for her first goal of the year. Rachel Vlope and Keeley Winn added the final two goals for MSU in the game, extending their lead 6-1. MSU outshot Ramapo 36-5 in the game while they posted 15 penalty corners to Ramapo's four.
 
Emily Kramer recorded 23 saves in the game while Wellema, Lauren Berry and Stacey Faria each collected a defensive save. Kaitlin Maguire posted one save for the Red Hawks.
 
Prior to the game the Roadrunners honored their senior class. Congratulations and good luck to Nicole Healy, Meredith McGinnis, Christina Bacino and Emily Kramer.
