RAMAPO TOPS MONTCLAIR STATE 81-64

 Montclair, NJ:  Thomas Bonacum tallied a career high 29 points to lead the Ramapo College men's basketball team to a key NJAC conference win today at Montclair State University, 81-64. The Roadrunners improve to 13-7 overall, 9-4 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks now stand 9-10 overall, 5-7 in the conference.
 
Bonacum finished the game 9-13 from the field including a perfect 5-5 from the three-point line while also going 6-7 from the free throw line for a career high 29 points. He also posted four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Christopher Moseley finished with 19 points going 8-12 from the field while he grabbed a team high nine rebounds. James Long dished out a team high six assists while Frank Nock added ten points, four assists and one steal. The team shot 44% from the field (26-58), 75% (9-12) from the three-point line and 76% (20-26) from the free throw line. The Ramapo defense caused 22 MSU turnovers leading to 31 points for the Roadrunners.
 
Ramapo went up 5-0 with a jumper from Moseley and a three pointer from Bonacum in the first half. The Red Hawks went on a 16-5 run to take a 16-10 lead with just under 12 minutes to play on a three pointer from Jaque Wilson. MSU would take their biggest lead of the game 19-11 with 10:05 on the clock on a three pointer from Shaun Russell before Ramapo went on a mini 7-0 run to cut the lead to one 18-19. The Red Hawks held at least a three-point lead down the stretch before they extended it to eight once again 31-23 with 2:19 left in the half. Moseley would cut the lead back to four heading into the locker room as he scored two straight baskets for the Roadrunners. MSU went into halftime up 31-27.
 
Brandon Channer scored the first basket for MSU in the second half before Ramapo's Ford nailed a three pointer off an assist from Nock and Moseley slammed down a dunk to cut the lead to one. Bonacum nailed a three pointer to tie the game at 35 before his layup at 17:45 put the Roadrunners up 37-35. MSU took the lead back for the next two minutes before Ramapo took the lead the game once again on a Bonacum three pointer 46-45. The Roadrunners never looked back as they led by as many as 15 in the final minutes before taking their biggest lead with the final basket of the game from Moseley, a three pointer off a dish from Bonacum with 45 seconds remaining.
 
MSU was led by Russell who posted 19 points while Channer added 16 of his own. Jaleel Christmon posted a double double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Red Hawks shot 33% (24-72) from the field, 20% (7-34) from the three-point line and 75% (9-12) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, February 3rd when they host NJAC rival New Jersey City University at 7:30pm.
