Appleton, Wis.: The Ramapo College baseball team won their first NCAA College World Series game in 31 years with a 14-2 victory over Webster University today at Neuroscience Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The Roadrunners (33-15) will now have a rematch with #2 Frostburg State (42-8) tomorrow morning at 11am (EST) in an elimination game.
The Roadrunners last appearance in the College World Series was in 1984 where Ramapo won the title.Webster made its third appearance at the World Series in four years and was the winners of the Waterloo Regional in which their pitching staff held opponents to just nine total runs in four games.
The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with four runs.
Chris Werr led off with a double down the right field line before Scott Peshiani singled and
Connor Walsh reached on an infield fielding error by the Gorlocks. Ryan Rinksy plated Werr with a sac fly before
Brandon Berger blasted his second home run of the season over the left field wall taking a 4-0 lead and the eventual game winning runs.
Ramapo added two runs in the third inning when Scott Peshiani hit an inside the park two-run home run.
Scott Shields singled before Peshiani lifted a ball to the deepest part of the ball park into right-center field which is marked at 405. The ball fell at the base of the wall and Peshiani raced around the bases to beat the relay throw from the Gorlocks to take a 6-0 lead.
Webster got on the board in the top of the fifth inning when Dylan Rajkowich hit a solo home run, his fifth of the season while in the sixth inning they added their second run of the game with an RBI single from Kyle Uhrich, 2-6.
The Roadrunners broke open the game in the sixth inning scoring eight runs on five hits, extending their lead 14-2. Runner's were on first and second for Rinsky as he put down a sac bunt which was misplayed by the Gorlocks allowing Walsh to come around and score from second base. Berger then laced a double off the top of the left field wall plating two more runs for the Roadrunners in
Rich Policastro and Rinsky.
Rob DeAngelis then laced a single into center field allowing Berger to score before being lifted for pinch runner
Kevin Kelly.
Joe Venturino plated Kelly with a single before Werr drove home Shields with a single through the right side of the infield. Policastro then stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and was hit by a pitch earning the RBI as Venturino touched home plate. Rinsky plated Ramapo's final run of the game with a sac fly in foul territory allowing Werr scored.

Tom Portesy (10-1) shutdown the Warlock offense through seven innings, including back-to-back strikeouts to get the final two outs of the seventh inning. He struck out five in his tenth win of the season while he scattered seven hits in seven innings of work.
John Doherty worked the eighth inning for Ramapo; he did not let up a hit while facing three batters. In the top of the ninth,
Mark Doyle closed the game out on the mound and also did not surrender a hit and faced three batters. Eight of nine Roadrunner batter's in the starting lineup collected a hit as the team pounded out 17 hits in the game.
Berger was 3-3 with two runs scored and five RBI while Peschiani was 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Venturino finished with three hits on five at-bats while he scored one run and drove in one RBI. Rinsky scored two RBI with two sac flies and scored one run.
