KEAN TOPS RAMAPO IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE ACTION 18-9

Mahwah, NJ:  The Kean University women's lacrosse team defeated host Ramapo College this afternoon, 18-9. The Cougars improve to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 5-8 overall, 1-4 in the NJAC.
 
The Cougars scored the first three goals of the game before Lindsay Hughes got the Roadrunners on the board with a goal to come within two, 1-3. Kean then scored six unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead before Hughes scored back to back unassisted goals in the final two minutes of the first half to a 3-9 score.
 
Alyssa Tachon scored in the opening seconds of the second half off a pass from Hughes to come within five 4-9 before Kean's Eliza Clark scored as Emily Stasuk picked up an assist 10-4. Kean extended their lead to 13-5 before Hughes scored her fifth goal of the game, 6-13, with under 13 minutes to play in the game.  Jordan Blanda tallied Kean's 14th goal, unassisted before Hughes scored her sixth and final goal of the game on a free-position shot 7-14. Ramapo's final two goals of the game came from Gabriella Razzano, her seventh of the season while Briana Vitulano tallied her first goal of the season.
 
Kean's Blanda scored the final three goals in the final 6:30 of play to come away with an 18-9 road victory. Cougar goalie Nikki Aposolopoulo (7-8) tallied 15 saves in the game while Blanda led the team with seven goals. Maggie Brockleban added four goals while Clark added three goals.
 
For the Roadrunners, Hughes tallied six goals while Vitulano, Tachon and Razzano each scored one goal apiece. Ramapo goalie Monica Bubello started the game and recorded two saves in the first 16:26 while Jessica Meyers finished the game tallying six saves of her own.
 
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to Stockton University on Saturday afternoon for a 1pm game.
