RAMAPO TAKES DOWN #17 STOCKTON

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team knocked off the #17 ranked Richard Stockton Ospreys today, 52-46, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Bradley Center.  With the win the Roadrunners improve to 13-9 overall and 7-8 in the conference, while the #1 team in the conference falls to 18-4 overall and 12-3 in the conference.

Thomas Bonacum recorded a powerful game collecting a double-double which included a team leading 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Frank Nock collected 12 points and Ve'Shawn Polite chipped in ten, as the team shot a combined 18-55 (33%) in the win.  Christopher Moseley grabbed four steals and James Long dished out four assists as the Roadrunners surpassed the Ospreys by the six-point spread.

The Roadrunners jumped out to a 10-4 start with 13:16 on the clock when a basket from Nock put Ramapo ahead by six, forcing a Richard Stockton timeout.  Just three minutes later, a long ball from Armin Crane would tie the game at 15 with 10:05 to go, this time forcing a Ramapo timeout.  The two teams traded baskets over the remainder of the half with Ramapo leading 23-20 at the halftime buzzer.  Ramapo forced 14 Stockton turnovers in the half and shot a combined 8-29 (27%) with Nock and Bonacum each netting six points.  Nock grabbed three steals in the first 20 minutes of play.  Cane led all Ospreys with eight points and three steals as the team went 8-28 (28%) in the half.  

Over the first five-plus minutes of the half, the Roadrunners worked their way to a 29-20 lead, before the Ospreys finally got on the board with the back-end of a two shot foul from Cane.  The Roadrunners led 32-21 before a long shot from Tom Catanoso and a two-point goal from Cane closed the gap to 26-32 with 12:21 to play.  Cantanoso struck again three minutes later with a three-point goal to come within one, 35-36, but Jermaine Dunkins responded with a basket of his own to put Ramapo ahead, 38-35 with nine minutes flat on the clock.  Anthony Woodward would close the gap to 37-38, before Ramapo strung together four points to take a 42-37 advantage with two free throws from Nock at 6:41.  Ramapo continued to hold onto the lead stretching to a six-point edge with two more charity baskets from Nock with 3:16 left to play.  Woodward would make it a two-point (46-48) game with just 1:39 remaining and Polite responded to push ahead again by four, 50-46 with just over a minute to play.  Ramapo would sink the final two points of the game to take home the conference victory.  Bonacum led the Roadrunners with seven points as the team went 10-26 (39%) in the half.  The Ospreys hit a combined 10-34 (29%) with Woodward leading the way with eight points. 
 
Cane led the Ospreys in the loss with 13 points and Woodward finished with a double-double that included 11 points and 11 boards.  The Ospreys hit a combined 18-62 (29%) in the loss.  Cane grabbed five steals and Josh Blamon dished out three assists.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, February 11th when they host The College of New Jersey at 7:30pm at the Bradley Center.
