Rochester, NY: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team went 1-1 today in a tri-match-up with #7 Nazareth and #14 Elmira. The Roadrunners dropped a tough 0-3 (11-25, 17-25, 18-25) match-up to Nazareth, before defeating the #14 ranked team of Elmira in five sets 3-2 (18-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-13). With the win and loss, the Roadrunners currently stand at 6-8 overall on the year.
In their first match-up of the day, the Roadrunners were swept by the #6 ranked Nazareth.
Spencer Shickora and
Garrett Fitzsimmons led the team collecting five kills each as the team hit a combined 21-72 with 16 errors hitting .069.
Justin Feigeles dished out 15 assists as he led the defense with six digs in the loss.
In their exciting five set match-up with the #14 ranked Elmira,
Marinus Tavernier and
Ryan Casci each put down 11 kills hitting .429 and .259 respectively. The team hit .216 with 53 total kills on 135 attempts and 24 errors. Shickora chipped in nine kills and Fitzsimmons added nine of his own, while
Nick Amos added seven kills to the win.
Alec Weissman dished out 48 assists in the win as
Peter Desvousges picked up a team leading 16 digs. Tavernier collected five solo blocks in the win.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, February 28th when they take on Purchase College and Mt. St. Vincent at 10am and 12pm respectively on the road.
