#21 ROCHESTER DEFEATS RAMAPO

San Juan, Puerto Rico: #21 University of Rochester defeated the Ramapo College women's basketball team 67-46 and improved to 9-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 3-9 on the year.
 
Rochester opened the game on a 4-1 run before the Roadrunners tied the game on a made basket from Alyson Oostdyk 5-5 with 3:18 left in the first period. The Yellowjackets tallied a basket before Ramapo scored off a free throw from Grace Elliott for the final points of the period. Rochester outscored Ramapo 26-12 in the second period, taking a 33-18 lead into halftime. The Yellowjackets controlled the second half with their biggest lead coming in the fourth period, a 28-point lead, with a three-pointer from Lizzy Atkinson.
 
The Yellowjackets were led by Jillian Silvestri who tallied 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks while Sarah Kaminsky added 12 points of her own in the game. The team shot 42% (25-59) from the floor, 60% (9-15) from the three-point line and 88% (8-9) from the free throw line. The Yellowjacket defense caused 16 Ramapo turnovers that Rochester converted to 10 points.
 
Alexandra Seedes tallied 14 points while she went 7-10 from the free throw line in the game for Ramapo. Kellie Lane added ten points while Jina Crawford and Bintou Berete each added six points. Oostdyk led the team with eight rebounds while she added two points and three assists. The team shot 36% (13-36) from the field, 20% (1-5) from the three-point line and 51% (19-37) from the free throw line in the game. The Ramapo defense caused 12 Rochester turnovers and the Roadrunners turned that into eight points.
 
Ramapo returns to action on January 6th when they host NJAC foe the College of New Jersey at the Bradley Center at 5:30pm.
