Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated NJAC rival Kean University 91-63 tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 5-2 overall, 2-0 in the NJAC while the Cougars now stand at 0-6 overall, 0-2 in the conference.
Four players scored in double figures for the Roadrunners in the win as
Christopher Moseley tallied a double-double 21 points and ten rebounds, including a team high five blocks.
Frank Nock added 19 points a team high eight assists and three steals while
Thomas Bonacum added 14 points and five rebounds.
Salomon Pierre added ten points while
Noah Basket tallied seven assists of his own.
Saint-Simeon Beaubrun posted eight points and six rebounds. Ramapo out rebounded Kean 37-26 and forced 18 Cougar turnovers that resulted in 28 points for the Roadrunners. Ramapo shot 59% from the field (34-57) in the game, 43% (7-16) from the three-point line and 88% (16-88) from the foul line.
Kean shot had four starters score in double figures as they were led by Mike Diamond who tallied 12 points while Diego Pujols added 11 points and Jerry Crismond and Tommy Soulias each added ten points. The team shot 36% (21-58) from the field, 17% (4-23) from the three-point line and 81% (17-21) from the foul line. Kean forced 20 Ramapo turnovers that resulted in 14 points for the Cougars.
The Cougars scored the first four points of the game before Ramapo scored back-to-back baskets from Bonacum to tie the game at four.
Nick Stanek put the Roadrunners in the lead with back-to-back shots of his own before Ramapo began to pull away in the first half with a 15-3 run. Ramapo saw their biggest lead of the half come with 3:13 on the clock. Stanek hit a jumper to put the Roadrunners up by 22 points 40-18. They went into the locker room up 43-28 at halftime. In the second half the Roadrunners did not let the Cougars come within 15 points and held their biggest lead of the game 75-45 with 8:26 on the clock on a jumper from
Salomon Pierre. In the final eight minutes of the game the Roadrunners did not let Kean shrink the lead to less then 20 points en route to a 28-point victory.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, December 5th when they host NJAC rival Montclair State University at 3pm.
