Ewing, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team fell short to the Lions of the College of New Jersey on the road, 87-170 today to fall to 3-1overall on the year and 0-1 to start the NJAC season.
Jose Alferez earned a 1st place ribbon for Ramapo in the 200-yard backstroke as he led the Roadrunners with nine points, finishing the race in 2:02.25 and
Jesse Smith took 1st in the 400-yard IM in 4:24.40 for nine points of his own. Alferez placed 2nd in the same event in a a time of 4:36.02 for four points for the Roadrunners.
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team, comprised of
Charlie May,
RJ Carillo,
Alex Barszcz and
Peter Kellner clocked in at 1:33.52 for 1st place overall and 11 points for the Roadrunners. Ramapo took 2nd and 3rd place in the same event where
Matt Stenger,
Aspen-Jade Tucker,
Chaz Cella, and
Benjamin Bland combined efforts to finish in 2nd place in 1:36.09 and
James Buckley,
Andrew Caetano,
Will Mayer, and
Nicholas Markwell took home 3rd clocking in at 1:38.15.
Kellner placed 2nd overall in the 200-yard freestyle race where he touched the poolside in 1:49.76 for four points for Ramapo.
Andrew Ramos took 3rd for three points in the 100-yard backstroke clocking in at 55.67 seconds while Alferez placed 4th in 55.90 seconds in the same event.
RJ Carillo earned a 2nd place ribbon in the 100-yard breaststroke as he finished the sprint in 1:03.13 for four points and Smith earned four points of his own in the 200-yard butterfly when he clocked in at 2:00.48.
Tucker placed 3rd for Ramapo in the 500-yard freestyle race. He touched the poolside in 5:06.62 for four points, while Smith earned 2nd place in the 100-yard butterfly for four points in 54.46 seconds.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, November 14th when they travel to Rowan University for a 1pm match-up.
